Certainly the community supporting Nepali Culture in Manitoba deserve to be happy that we managed to come together for our culture and establish Nepali Cultural Society of Manitoba after significant work of interim board members in year 2007!!
It was a proud moment for Nepali Culture when many youths and interim board members agreed to volunteer as the first board members of Nepali Cultural Society of Manitoba. Pleasingly aggressive work of youths like Raju Timsina, Smrita Joshi, Srijana Uprety and others was appreciative.
We had http://NepaliCSM.com as a web page for Nepali Cultural Society of Manitoba which was up and running in the server during the term of first executive board. Several interesting Newsletters were created and posted in the NepaliCSM.com web page.
We have been regularly celebrating major cultural events together as a community. Many talented young members came forward and showed their talents during these events. Our elder group of the community were thrilled to be a part of the celebrations like Teej, Dasain, and New Year in this distant location far from the country of origin. These celebrations give an opportunity to the community members to meet, interact and enjoy cultural day together.
We will soon be a community of a thousand which was started from less than a hundred members. Great supporter of Nepali Culture, first and earlier immigrants from Nepal to Manitoba, Dr. Sandra Bullen, Mr. Laxman Tripathy and Mr. Ram Munikar are life members of NepaliCSM. Life members will grow by increasing membership of admirable contributor of society.
NepaliCSM members directory 2008/09 was prepared and emailed to all members. The directory 2009/10 was sent to all members as well. As the members list grew it required more work to keep updated. The process will continue with the help of energetic board members and general members.
It was exciting that young members of the community, Rashmi and Ranju came forward to volunteer in the 2nd executive board of NepaliCSM. Contribution of youth volunteer is admirable as they had to give their study time for community work. Our community grew significantly in year 2009/10. Many board members and members had to give much more extra time to help new arrivals. President Chitra Pradhan, Tara Subedi, Manika Pradhan and many other
